The Epiphany Home Blessing Sign is intended to be a permanent invitation for Christ's blessing on the home and all who enter. It measures approximately 27 x 5 inches and is a distressed black or stained dark walnut (or another combination of custom colors) with white accent letters and symbols made of quarter inch birch. The sign comes with saw-tooth hooks for convenient hanging. The year rounds hang on a small nail so that they may be updated each year. Included with the purchase of this sign are the rounds for years 2025 - 2034. To use chalk is optional but, for our home, we will have our children trace the letters, symbols, numbers with chalk. We suggest getting the sign blessed, along with the year rounds.

Custom colors may be requested. Color options for the backing are natural pine, distressed gray, distressed black, dark walnut stain, early American stain, or golden oak stain. Color options for the letters/symbols/numbers are natural Birch, white, charcoal stain, dark walnut stain, early American stain, and golden oak stain.

**Please make a note at checkout of your custom color options if you prefer something other than the black/white or dark stain/white.

"Epiphany (also known as Twelfth Night, Theophany, or Three Kings Day) marks the occasion of a time-honored Christian tradition of “chalking the doors.” The formula for the ritual — adapted for 2025 — is simple: take chalk of any color and write the following above the entrance of your home: 20 + C + M + B + 25.

The letters have two meanings. First, they represent the initials of the Magi — Caspar, Malchior, and Balthazar — who came to visit Jesus in His first home. They also abbreviate the Latin phrase, Christus mansionem benedicat: “May Christ bless the house.” The “+” signs represent the cross, and the “20” at the beginning and the “25” at the end mark the year. Taken together, this inscription is performed as a request for Christ to bless those homes so marked and that He stay with those who dwell therein throughout the entire year" (https://onepeterfive.com/the-chalking-of-the-doors-an-epiphany-tradition-explained/).
